1. Decide what changes
What is different by the end? It could be a decision, discovery, action, or new understanding.

2. Set the basics
Choose the place, who is present, what that person wants, and what makes it difficult.
Try this: Where are we? Who wants what? What is in the way?
3. List what happens
Write the events in order. Connect them with therefore or but to check that one event affects the next.
Try this: This happens, therefore ___; but ___; therefore ___.
4. Add a few details
Choose two or three things the character would notice. You do not need to describe everything.
Try this: Which detail shows the mood, character, or problem?
5. Revise the change
Find the most important turn in the scene. Cut repetition and give that moment enough space.
Try this: Where does the scene change direction?
